Drake’s Hollywood Opens in Old Town Scottsdale on November 6

by Holly Waxman

Old Town Scottsdale is getting a touch of old Hollywood glamour. Drake’s Hollywood, a restaurant known for its moody, glamorous dining rooms and celebrity following, opens on Friday, November 6, at 3828 N. Scottsdale Road, on the corner of Scottsdale Road and 1st Street. At 8,000 square feet, the Scottsdale location is the brand’s largest in the country.

A Step Back Into Old Hollywood

Drake’s Hollywood draws its look from the glamour of 1930s and 1940s New York and Los Angeles, mixing Art Deco and Hollywood Regency styles. Guests arrive through a valet-only entrance. Inside are red leather booths, a circular bar in the middle of the room, vintage-style murals, hand-painted portraits, brass details and chandeliers. There are also two private dining rooms for celebrations and business dinners.

The space was designed by Hunter Pond, CEO of Vandelay Companies, with the architecture firm DXU. Pond called the city “the perfect stage for our next chapter,” pointing to Scottsdale’s energy, style and dining scene.

What’s on the Menu

The menu blends Italian-American classics with a steakhouse feel. Highlights include:

  • Raw bar: steak tartare, spicy tuna crispy rice and ahi pressed sushi
  • Hot appetizers: lobster escargot, jumbo lump crab cake and cauliflower dynamite
  • Entrées: Pasta Za Za, Milo’s lobster pasta, parmesan-crusted snapper and honey truffle chicken
  • Steaks: USDA Prime cuts, dry-aged ribeye and A5 Japanese Wagyu with white truffle butter
  • Sides: lobster mac and cheese, white truffle fries and creamed corn
  • Dessert: a 24-layer strawberry cake

The World’s Coldest Martini

The brand’s signature drink is the World’s Coldest Martini, made with Grey Goose, vermouth and citrus bitters. Other cocktails include the French 76, Bogart’s Gimlet and an espresso martini. The wine list covers Napa Valley, Burgundy, Champagne and Provence.

The Maître D’ Private Club

Inside the restaurant is the Maître D’, a private club for members with its own entrance. It offers custom cocktails, a top-tier wine list and a late-night menu.

Live Music on Sundays

Drake’s Hollywood will have live music in the dining room every Sunday from 6 to 9 p.m., a nice way to end the weekend in Old Town.
